a wild new solo show

Meet Beastie: man, myth, monster hunter.

Years of solitude, bothy-hopping and dubious tour-running come to an abrupt end when he finds himself at the centre of an unflattering documentary. He’s nae too happy about going viral, yet when the time comes to reclaim his narrative, he’s nae so sure about untangling the reeds of memory either.

This darkly funny solo show from Flagstone Theatre follows its antihero on a modern-day odyssey through Scotland’s wild places and people, battling the beasties that lurk far closer to the surface than stories would have you believe.

Beastie was developed in two stages - first through an artist support residency facilitated by EPAD and the Scottish Storytelling Centre, and then through Creative Scotland Open Funding. The show is currently accepting expressions of interest for presentation in small-mid scale venues in autumn 2026.

“Gray’s writing, paired with Sivewright’s shape-shifting performance and a production team attuned to the nuances of tone and texture, delivers a piece that is as emotionally resonant as it is theatrically inventive. It’s a rare feat: a solo show that feels communal, a dark comedy that leaves a bruise, and a folkloric tale that refuses to stay in the past. Beastie lingers not because of its ghosts, but because of its humanity: in all of our raw, fractured, and achingly familiar sins.”
